KADOKAWA Contents Acadamy opens milestone first overseas content school KADOKAWA International Edutainment in Taiwan

KADOKAWA International Edutainment opening ceremony and press conference was held on September 5, 2016 in Taipei

KADOKAWA Contents Academy Co.,  Ltd.    (hereinafter, “KCA”) has opened the Kadokawa International Edutainment, the local name of the Taipei school of its overseas content school business.

KCA chose Taiwan as the location for its first school as the country has many fans of Japanese content and the KADOKAWA brand is well known thanks to the presence of Kadokawa Taiwan Corporation. The opening ceremony was well attended.

At the press conference, KCA Chairman Tsuguhiko Kadokawa and President and CEO Tetsuya Koga delivered addresses which were followed by speeches from three members of the Taiwan’s Executive Yuan (cabinet), who offered congratulations and spoke of their expectations for the school.

In addition to the already decided Comic Artist, Character Design, and Card Game Illustrator    courses that will be available when the school opens, a new Voice Actor course was announced. The new course has been widely anticipated in Taiwan and there has been strong public interest in the wide range of courses at the Taiwan school.

Popular local manga artist Pon Jea, who has also been active in Japan,  added excitement to the proceedings by presenting an illustration as a surprise gift to KCA Chairman Tsuguhiko Kadokawa.

After the press conference, the guests were invited to the Taiwan school unveiling the new campus and a reception was held. Everyone was able to see the brand-new environment that has been prepared just ahead of the start of courses at the end of September.

Courses for first-year students are to be started in series from September 27 (Sat). Four of the five planned classes have already had a surplus of applicants (as of September 15). This steady progress in attracting students also shows the high level of interest and expectation within the country.

Starting with this Taiwan school, KCA plans to continue opening schools in 10 countries and regions throughout Asia, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia. The company is expected to develop content production personnel in each area.
