Taiwan School KADOKAWA International Edutainment Holds Graduation Ceremony for Inaugural Class Completing Courses of Up to Two Years

October 4, 2016

KADOKAWA Contents Academy Co., Ltd. (hereinafter, “KCA”) announced today that its wholly-owned subsidiary KADOKAWA International Edutainment (hereinafter, “KIE”) held a graduation ceremony for its inaugural class in Taipei, Taiwan on September 25, 2016.

KIE is KCA’s first content school to be opened overseas. The school opened in September 2014 in Taipei, Taiwan. The inaugural term started in October of the same year, offering three courses: the Comic Artist and Character Design courses for beginners and the Card Game Illustrator course for experienced students.

Two years later, 79 students participated in a graduation ceremony, having absorbed content production expertise from both Japan and Taiwan and completed all the courses.
Present on the day of the graduation ceremony were the graduates and their teachers and families, teachers and teaching assistants of students in the second and subsequent classes, and various other people involved in the courses. The ceremony hall was filled with a celebratory mood.

In addition, the ceremony was also attended by Shigeru Morita, a guest from Japan who has been involved in many popular Japanese anime, and Ministry of Economic Affairs Information Technology Industries Division Leader Chih-Ching Yang. Both offered words of congratulation.

KCA Chairman Tsuguhiko Kadokawa encouraged the graduates, saying “People who can communicate Taiwan’s traditional culture as a unique pop culture are going to have an extremely important role in the future. I would like to see such people communicate Taiwan’s culture going forward. I also hope that Taiwan will become a gateway to Asian pop culture.”

The graduates exhibited their own graduation work at a public graduate work exhibition held from September 22 to 24, and also presented their work on September 23 at a corporate presentation attended by local Taiwanese publishers and game companies. Many of the graduates were offered work at the presentation, and are expected to continue to work actively in various genres going forward.

KCA will provide support after graduation by promoting links with content production companies in Japan, Taiwan, and other countries, and is also planning to become involved in job placement and human resource management operations.
